I've been snapping photos since I was just five years old, began working in my own darkroom by the time I was seven, and had my own “One Man Show Exhibit” at age 14 at the Berkshire Museum, all in the Berkshires where my family has lived for generations.
My passion for photography was ignited even more when, on my 13th birthday I was given a gift from Joel Librizzi, reknown photographer of The Berkshire Eagle (our local paper) - an offer to tag along with him for a week doing photo shoots and printing in his darkroom - what a thrill for a young teenager! I photographed Johnny Cash at a local ski area, shot sporting events, had my own full pages in the Eagle's fashion supplement and Berkshires Week, while working side-by-side with one of Berkshire County's finest photographers (my personal mentor and close friend). That's when I knew what my future career would be!
Since I was a youth, I also worked in our family-owned camera retail store, The Photo Shop, in Pittsfield, MA. After receiving a BA in Fine Arts degree from University of Hartford, I continued my work there and continued my love for photography.
In recent years, as the photo retail landscape has changed, I have scaled back my retail operation and have found a new passion: restoring and preserving your memories. I specialize in photo restoration, as well as transferring your precious slides, photos, negatives and video to a digital format. I take on many interesting and expansive projects, as well as doing Family & Pet Portraits, Passport & Visa photos, Corporate & Acting Headshots and much more - so if you have something you need done, just ask!
My specialty is providing a personal service to you, whether capturing special moments or preserving them. I often can pick up and drop off your valuable tapes, slides, negatives & photos (no need for shipping away your memories or dealing with the “big boxes”).
Call me today (413-442-6411) - I'd love the opportunity to work with you!
Feel free to email me: markswirskyphoto@gmail.com (and see my contact page, as well) or call at 413-442-6411.
